Period 1:
I checked off page 644 #1-3. We finished the heartbeat powerpoint and started talking about blood (got as far as hemoglobin structure in the blood PPT).
Homework: "How the Blood Works" article and questions
Period 2:
We went to the media center lab to work on getting logged onto NING! Play around with NING this weekend to get a feel for the website. Keep in mind, this website is used for academic purposes only, so everything must be 100% school appropriate! I'm watching you.... :)

Period 5:
I checked off page 644 #1-3. Tim presented on Deep Vein Thrombosis. We started talking about blood and got as far as the vocabulary regarding oxygenated/deoxygenated blood.

Period 6:
We (finally) finished the Heart Attack video. Then I introduced some basic info for our Ning project (we will be going to the media center to start our work on Monday). Then we had arts and crafts time - we all make models of ATP molecules!

Periods 1 and 5:
Groups finished working on the EKG lab analysis questions and turned them in. The rest of the class time was used to work on test review and/or the "How the Blood Works" article (due Monday for period 1, Tuesday for period 5).
Period 6 started class with a quiz on the respiratory and digestive systems.
Period 7 started class with a quiz on the digestive system.
Periods 2, 6, and 7 all had classwork to complete: The section 9.1 "The Need for Energy" reading guide packet AND page 244 #1-5,7. Any work not completed in class was to be finished for homework and passed in NO LATER than Friday.

Period 1 - day 1, no class!
Period 2
Took a quiz on the digestive system and spent the rest of class going over the details of the NING project. All project handouts can be found on the class website.
Period 5
We did the EKG lab in class (handout provided before vacation). You will have about 10 minutes to complete your group work at the beginning of class Wednesday. The new PPT (on blood) is now posted on the class website.
Homework: read pages 645-648 and do #1,2,3 page 644
Periods 6 and 7
We talked about the digestive system using one of our notes handouts. Topics covered include the anatomy of the system, how each part works together to digest food (specific function of each part) and the differences between chemical and mechanical digestion.
