Period 1:
Day 1 - no class!

Period 2:
We finished going over the classwork WS from yesterday. I announced the video online discussion assignment on the Ning forum along with due dates (see class website and the Ning for more information). We started talking about how ATP relates to the digestive system and watched a video on metabolism.
Homework: read pages 231-237 and complete section 9.3 reading guide packet.

Period 5:
We started the respiratory system today! Kathlyn presented on lung cancer. I passed out a packet of diagrams and we went over the anatomy and physiology of the system. Then, we talked about the function of the system and gas diffusion through the alveoli, and also watched a Gunther clip as intro.

Homework: "How the Lungs Work" article focus questions in your notes

Period 6:
We headed to M105 to work on our research. I talked a little about course selection (I will sign sheets tomorrow) and gave some more information regarding a timeline for due dates for the Ning project and grading procedures.
Homework: Continue working on your research!

Period 7:
We started with a Do Now that compares ATP to a bank account (storing/withdrawing energy). We used our models to go over the ATP/ADP cycle, and we drew it and wrote it in words in our notes. Then, students completed an ATP worksheet while Ms. Sharkey signed course selection sheets.
Homework: Work on your project research, Section 9.3 reading guide packet due Monday
