Period 1:
We started the respiratory system today! Michelle presented on lung cancer. I passed out a packet of diagrams and we went over the anatomy of the system. Then, we talked about the function of the system and gas diffusion through the alveoli, and also watched a Gunther clip as intro.
Homework: "How the Lungs Work" article focus questions in your notes

Period 2:
We started with a Do Now that compares ATP to a bank account (storing/withdrawing energy). We used our models to go over the ATP/ADP cycle, and we drew it and wrote it in words in our notes. Then, students completed an ATP worksheet while Ms. Sharkey signed course selection sheets.
Homework: Work on your project research

Period 5:
Cardiovascular System test today!

Period 6
Sophomores were on a field trip, no class

Period 7

Period 1:
Cardiovascular System test!

Periods 2 and 7:
I updated everyone on the Ning project thus far. We went over a time line and talked about upcoming assignments (video assignment coming this week, another day in the computer lab late next week to work on PowerPoint. Due date is TBA but will likely be the end of the week of 3/15). I also passed out a sheet outlining more detail regarding how the project will be graded.
Then, I talked about course selection for next year in anticipation of signing sheets during our next class.
Lastly, we had arts and crafts time while we made models of the ATP molecule!
Homework: Talk about course selection at home, work on project research

Period 5:
Tory presented on fanconi anemia. We finished talking about blood by going over control of RBC formation by erythropoetin, an overview of white blood cells, and platelets/coagulation.
Homework: Test tomorrow!

Period 6:
Today was a day 6 - no class!
